DOA. I had this in its package in a closet at a safe temperature, keeping for a time when I'd need an extra USB drive handy. Months after I bought it, I plugged into my computer and started with a speed test. It didn't even finish. It gave me a read error, and the PC couldn't detect it anymore. I tried another PC and it just showed up as an empty drive with zero space. Dead. The USB tip also feels hot to the touch when I removed it.
And now it's past the return window, so I can't even return it to Amazon! :(
I've never experienced a DEAD on arrival USB drive ever. I have contacted Kingston and asked for a replacement through the product's 5 year warranty. I'll update this review based on the

Kingston did good on their promise with the warranty; they sent me a replacement and did not require me to ship the old one back to them (it cost so little, it wouldn't have been worth it for me to even do so). The RMA process was not hard and they shipped it quickly. This weekend I test the drive and the new one works! However, like others have said, it's not as fast as other USB drives. However, for a $4-5 add-on item special, I can't complain too much. 3 stars is fair.
